Bengali Literacy Class
BAFA was officially founded in 2011 as a Language Preservation Initiative in the Bronx, aiming to preserve the Bengali language and its rich cultural heritage. The Bengali language embodies the cultural arts, economic history, political influence, and the spirit of the homeland that many have left behind. BAFA’s Bengali Literacy program begins by teaching students to read and write in Bangla, with a focus on improving pronunciation through poetry recitation and basic conversation practice. With the growing Bengali-speaking immigrant population in the U.S., mastering this language not only fosters personal growth but also provides a valuable skill in professional environments.
